Philippines: Update from the Mountains of Mindoro

An update from Haziel Garcia, Pastor of our sister church the Abundant Grace and Peace Sanctuary in Oriental Mindoro, Philippines.

I asked Haziel to provide some background information about the rebel group and how their actions affect the people living in the mountain communities.

The rebel group are called NEW PEOPLES ARMY, (NPA a communist armed group) they are fighting for some reforms as you know about communism. This group was declared a terrorist by the government due to its active ambushes and killings. In the past till now there is a lot of recruitment in the tribal group making them as frontlines in battleground. They induce hatred in the hearts of this people to fight against the government and using the status of this low income people hoping for the new government of equality. It affects so much to the life of the tribes since they cannot raise their livestock for most of the times NPA are taking some parts of their living as part of revolutionary tax, the rebels are asking them to support if not by arms then by food. The life the tribes is much better without the rebel group because the government cannot build projects for them.

As I said in the video the message of relentless love of God will hinder the progress of this group because more people are now awaken to our message. Younger generations will not be a future victims of this rebel group.

We have 12 active pastors in the tribe and now are gaining reputation to the community as they preach and manifest God’s love in their community. We have 3 pastors who was been a part of rebel group before.

Please remember these pastors and their people in your prayers.
